A prototype is an initial model or sample of a product built to be tested for user feedback. It works to assess a new product or concept design’s utility in the real world and current market.
Prototype evaluation testing equips you with the necessary insight to ensure that your design or wireframe is going in the right direction and that you’re addressing any essential features or flaws—before you write even one line of code.
It’s always best to test early, and often. After all, redesigning a prototype is easier and less expensive than reworking a finished product that customers don’t want. By validating your design early, you’re reaping the benefit of collecting feedback from your target audience that will help shape your development efforts and priorities.

If following the Design Thinking Process, prototype evaluation will fall in the prototype stage, before the last stage of testing.
If the Agile Process is a better fit for your needs, plan for prototype evaluation during the develop stage, following designing and before testing.
To get started, you’ll need a publicly accessible link to a prototype (i.e. Figma, inDesign, etc.) or an interactive html prototype you can upload, that features the prototype you want to evaluate.
